You may not realise that fruit trees are just as much at risk of becoming extinct as animals.
In the last 200 years many species of fruit trees have almost disappeared, falling out of fashion in favour of large-scale, intensive farming focusing on a smaller number of crop varieties.
Lindsay Engers is on a mission to bring back flavour packed, heritage fruit to the Chilterns. He set up Chiltern Heritage Orchards in 2016. It’s a commercial venture that’s the first of its kind in the Chilterns, if not the UK – an organic, regenerative fruit orchard.
