The Chilterns look especially beautiful in autumn when the beech woodlands transform into stunning waves of golden leaves.
Enjoy seeing all the gorgeous colours on one of my top favourite autumn walks. Then refuel with a delicious meal or hot chocolate afterwards.
1. ASHRIDGE
Lady’s Walk, the Golden Valley and Frithsden Beeches are all slightly off the beaten track and stunning places to walk in autumn. Snacks and hot drinks are available at Ashridge House’s Bakehouse café or treat yourself to a really special meal at the Alford Arms, Frithsden.
2. TRING PARK
Enjoy a walk up to King Charles Ride from Tring town centre and admire the views back over the beautiful parkland. Walk onto Wigginton Shop for a great coffee and cake or head back to Tring for delicious deli food at Nonna’s Supper Club.
3. NETTLEBED
Explore beautiful ancient beeches and Nettlebed’s towering Old Kiln, then enjoy an amazing cheese toastie afterwards at Nettlebed Creamery’s Cheese Shed.
4. WENDOVER WOODS
Great play areas and walks through spectacular woodland. Treat yourself to the world’s best hot chocolate at Rumsey’s in Wendover or deli delicacies from No2 Pound St.
5. COOMBE HILL
With stunning views over the Vale of Aylesbury and a great spot for kite flying, Coombe Hill is the perfect place to burn off some energy. Then head to the fabulous kitchen at Buckmoorend Farm and pick up one of their lovely meals for dinner.
