A symbol of hope heralding in spring.
The Chilterns has lots of lovely places to view large blankets of snowdrops opening up this weekend.
Here are my top picks of where to visit…
St. Botolph’s Church, Swyncombe, Henley On Thames, Oxfordshire. RG9 6EA holds snowdrop teas 2-4pm on 4, 5, 11, 12, 18 and 19th February.
Benington Lordship, nr Stevenage SG2 7BS. 4-26th February 11am-4pm Adults £7 (£8 on Sundays) Under 16s £3. Under 3s free. There’s a beautiful snowdrop walk with rare varieties around the Norman keep and moat.
Waterperry Gardens, nr. Wheatley Ox33 1JZ. 1st– 28th February 10am-5pm. Adults £10.50, children free. These gorgeous ornamental gardens have more than 60 snowdrop varieties carpeting the grounds and a spectacular show along their River Thames walk. Enjoy lunch or tea at the superb café but make sure to visit neighbouring Waterperry Farm Shop to pick up some local delicacies to enjoy at home.
Please check websites before visiting. Enjoy the snowdrops and please tag Chilterns Recipe Book on social media if you like my recommendations. Thank you.
